Ingredients

Quantities are for one portion.

  • 15 mlolive oil
  • 30 gplain breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1onion, finely grated
  • 70 gwhite rice
  • 10 gbutter
  • 1egg
  • 2garlic cloves, minced
  • 150 gbeef mince
  • 10 gfresh mint, finely chopped

Method

  1. Melt the butter in a small pot and toast the dry white rice for a minute. Add salted water, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the beef mince, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped mint, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix thoroughly by hand until well incorporated, then shape the mixture into small, flat meatballs.
  4. Let the meatballs rest in the fridge for a few minutes to firm up.
  5. Heat the olive oil in a heavy frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the meatballs in batches until browned and crispy on all sides, ensuring they are cooked through.
  7. Serve the hot crispy meatballs beside a mound of the fluffy rice pilaf.
