Black Pepper Beef with Rice
Thinly sliced steak quickly seared alongside peppers and onions, generously coated in a punchy, highly aromatic black pepper sauce.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 1red bell pepper, sliced
- 1onion, sliced
- 70 gwhite rice
- 1 tspblack pepper
- 1 tbspvegetable oil
- salt to taste
- 1 tbspsesame oil
- 30 mlsoy sauce
- 2garlic cloves, minced
- 15 gplain flour
- 150 gbeef sirloin, thinly sliced
Method
- Boil the dry white rice in salted water until thoroughly tender, then cover and set aside.
- Mix the sliced beef with the plain flour and a pinch of salt.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or heavy skillet until smoking. Add the beef and sear rapidly until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Lower the heat slightly and add the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and garlic to the wok. Stir-fry until the vegetables begin to soften.
- Return the beef to the wok.
- Add the soy sauce, black pepper, and sesame oil. Toss the mixture continuously over the heat until fragrant and completely coated.
- Serve the intensely savory beef warm with the plain white rice.
