Beef and Broccoli with Egg Fried Rice
Tender sliced beef wok-tossed with vibrant green broccoli florets in a rich savory sauce, served over classic egg fried rice.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 100 gbroccoli, cut into florets
- salt and pepper to taste
- 70 gwhite rice
- 1 tbspvegetable oil
- 1egg
- 1 tbspsesame oil
- 15 mlsoy sauce
- 2garlic cloves, minced
- 15 gplain flour
- 150 gbeef flank steak, thinly sliced
Method
- Cook the dry white rice in salted water until fluffy, then set aside to cool slightly.
- Coat the sliced beef with the plain flour and a pinch of pepper.
- Heat half of the vegetable oil in a wok strongly. Sear the beef until fully browned, then remove.
- Wipe the wok, add the remaining oil, and scramble the egg. Add the cooked rice and toss over high heat until warm. Set the fried rice aside.
- In the same wok, stir-fry the broccoli florets and minced garlic until the broccoli is bright green.
- Return the beef to the wok. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Toss everything continuously until well coated and fully heated through.
- Serve the beef and broccoli hot alongside the egg fried rice.
