Vegetarian Pide with Spinach, Feta, and Egg
A boat-shaped Turkish flatbread with a crispy crust and chewy center, heavily loaded with wilted spinach, salty feta cheese, and a baked egg.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 50 gfeta cheese, crumbled
- 150 gpizza dough (store-bought)
- 15 mlolive oil
- 0.5onion, finely chopped
- 1egg
- 100 gfresh spinach
Method
- Preheat the oven to its absolute maximum temperature and place a baking tray inside to heat up.
- Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the finely chopped onion until soft. Add the fresh spinach and cook until completely wilted, then squeeze out all excess liquid.
- Roll the pizza dough out into a long, thin oval shape on a piece of parchment paper.
- Spread the spinach mixture down the center of the dough, leaving a border. Fold the edges inwards to create a boat shape, pinching the ends tightly.
- Sprinkle the crumbled feta heavily over the spinach, then crack the egg directly into the center of the boat.
- Carefully slide the parchment paper onto the hot baking tray in the oven and bake until the crust is deeply golden and the egg is set.
