Spaghetti Bolognese
A comforting classic featuring a slow-simmered, rich minced beef and tomato ragù tangled through thick spaghetti.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 10 gparmesan cheese, grated
- 100 gspaghetti
- 1celery stalk, finely diced
- 15 mlolive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1onion, finely diced
- 150 gcanned diced tomatoes
- 2garlic cloves, minced
- 150 gbeef mince
- 1carrot, finely diced
Method
- Heat the olive oil in a heavy pot. Sauté the diced onion, carrot, and celery until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and the beef mince to the pot. Cook until the meat is browned.
- Stir in the canned diced tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Lower the heat, cover, and let the ragù simmer slowly for at least an hour to develop a deep flavor.
- Boil the spaghetti in salted water until al dente, then drain.
- Toss the hot pasta directly into the rich meat sauce until coated.
- Serve in a deep bowl, topped with the grated parmesan cheese.
