Southern Fried Chicken with Mash and Gravy
Crispy, golden, flour-coated fried chicken served with smooth mashed potatoes and a savory pouring gravy.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 30 mlwhole milk
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tspgarlic powder
- 50 mlchicken gravy
- 2 tbspvegetable oil
- 10 gbutter
- 200 gpotatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 tspsmoked paprika
- 150 gchicken thighs, boneless and skinless
- 30 gplain flour
Method
- Season the chicken thighs with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge them completely in the flour.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and pan-fry the chicken until deeply golden, crispy, and cooked through. Set aside to rest.
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, then drain well.
- Mash the potatoes with the butter and milk until creamy. Season to taste.
- Warm the gravy in a small pot.
- Serve the crispy chicken with a side of mash, and pour the gravy over everything.
