Lamb Kofta in Tahini with Rice
Spiced lamb and onion patties baked in a luxurious, creamy, and tangy sesame tahini sauce, served next to steamed white rice.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 1 tsplebanese seven spice
- 1lemon, juiced
- 15 mlolive oil
- 70 gdry white rice
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1onion, grated
- 150 glamb mince
- 2 tbsptahini
- 1garlic clove, crushed
- 10 gfresh parsley, chopped
Method
- Rinse the white rice and steam it until fluffy. Keep warm.
- Drain the grated onion of excess water. In a bowl, knead the lamb mince, grated onion, half the parsley, seven spice, salt, and pepper.
- Shape the meat into small patties. Heat the olive oil in a pan and brown them quickly on both sides. Transfer to a baking dish.
- Preheat the oven. In a bowl, whisk the tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, and a splash of warm water until it turns into a pale, smooth cream.
- Pour the tahini sauce over the browned kofta in the baking dish.
- Bake in the oven until the meat is cooked through and the sauce thickens and bubbles.
- Serve the hot kofta covered in tahini sauce next to the rice, garnished with the remaining fresh parsley.
