Jeyuk Bokkeum with Rice
Thin slices of fatty pork belly stir-fried with onions in a blazing hot, sweet, and sticky chili pepper glaze.
Ingredients
Quantities are for one portion.
- 150 gthinly sliced pork belly
- 15 gsugar
- 70 gdry white rice
- 1onion, sliced
- 2 tbspgochujang
- 1 tbspsesame oil
- 15 mlsoy sauce
- 1 tspgrated garlic
Method
- Rinse and cook the white rice until fluffy. Keep warm.
- Mix the gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and grated garlic in a bowl to form a thick, spicy paste.
- Toss the thinly sliced pork belly in the paste until evenly coated.
- Heat a pan over medium heat without extra oil. Fry the coated pork.
- As the pork fat renders, add the sliced onion to the pan.
- Stir-fry continuously until the pork is cooked through, the onions are soft, and the sauce is sticky and caramelized.
- Remove from heat, drizzle with sesame oil, and serve over the hot steamed rice.
